Having fun doing Maths
Today we had different maths equipment to use to make our own addition problems. We had Teddy Bears, 100's board, Dice and cards. We were all so engaged and on the second day all managed to record down our equations in our new Maths books. We are so clever here in Room 5. Check us out.

Maths time in Room 5
Today we learnt how to rule up our Maths books and write one number in each square. We then did some addition questions to practise. Check out how good we all are at Maths.
Vintage Cars
Today we had 4 vintage cars come to Mahora School. We all got to have a ride around the field in them. We went twice around and even over the hill. It was so much fun!

Place Value in Room 5
We are learning all about Place Value in Room 5 at the moment. Today we talked about all the different ways we knew which number was bigger when comparing two numbers. Miss Boaler gave us a challenge to see who could make the biggest number only using 12 pop sticks. We had to copy the numbers off the calculator. The biggest number we came up with was 1471.
Can you make any bigger numbers?

Reading with Room Rua
Today we read our reading books to Room Rua and they read their books back to us. We also did some drawing together and played some reading games. It was so fun to work together to help each other sound out words. Thanks so much for the visit Room Rua- come back again soon!

Can you work this problem out? Room 5 can!
Mr Pearse is selling lollies. He has 8 bags and can only fit 3 lollies in
each bag. How many lollies will he need to buy altogether?
Miss Boaler gave us this problem to work out today. We are learning all about Multiplication (times tables). Multiplication is the number of groups x the number in the groups.
Can you be as clever as Room 5 and work how many lollies Mr Pearse needs? Please post your answer and how you worked it out.
Here are a few photos of our amazing thinkers!
